Arizona Cardinals fans should forget about Norman

The Carolina Panthers rescinded their franchise tag of cornerback Josh Norman on Wednesday

When Arizona Cardinals fans know the team is still looking for a cornerback to start alongside Patrick Peterson, when arguably the best corner in the game is all of a sudden an unrestricted free agent, fans start putting two and two together.  Forget it Birdgang.  Josh Norman is not a fit in Arizona.

Let me first say that Norman is a great cornerback.  Clearly he proved that for the Carolina Panthers in 2015.  However there are two huge reasons why he doesn’t fit in Arizona.

First of all, he will cost and arm and a leg.  The Cardinals only have enough money under the salary cap to afford a toe.  After they released defensive tackle Cory Redding on Tuesday, they freed up about $3 million in cap space.  That still leaves them only about $6 million under the cap.

The second issue is that Norman carries some baggage.  We talked about character earlier today.  Norman proved last season against the New York Giants that character is an issue.  He’s not exactly the type of player head coach Bruce Arians wants.  Talent-wise, there is no question he is what everyone wants.

Calm down my friends.  It isn’t happening.  We can all fantasize and that’s free.  Norman will cost money.  A lot of money.

Seriously people.  Stop.  You are only going to torture yourselves.  The one guy is right, it would be unfair to put Norman on the Cardinals.  This is why the NFL created the salary cap.  This way you can’t fit all the best players in the league on one team.  Like I said, dreaming is free.  Norman is not.
