The Arizona Cardinals have concluded mini-camp with next stop training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.

In this profile we look at safety Tyvon Branch.  He signed with the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason.

2015: Branch played with the Kansas City Chiefs last season after spending the first seven seasons in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders.   He has one sack and one interception.  That lone interception was returned for a touchdown.  He was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week in week 13.

2016: Branch signed an $8 million contract for two years in the offseason.  Make no mistake, he is coming in and competing for a job.  He was a full-time starter for four of his seasons in Oakland.

He only started one game for the Chiefs last season, however he comes to Arizona knowing the safety position has some really great talent but at times inconsistent.  This gives him a chance to compete for a starting position.

Once Tyrann Mathieu is 100 percent healthy, he will have one starting spot.  Branch though has the chance to come in a take over for the departed Rashad Johnson.  Of course guys like Deone Bucannon and Tony Jefferson will have something to say about that as well.

Clearly Branch’s best seasons were earlier on in his career in 2010, 2011, and also 2012 when the Raiders placed a franchise tag on him.  He can still bring it though, so don’t forget about this guy.
