The Arizona Cardinals have concluded mini-camp with next stop training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.

In this profile we look at receiver Marquis Bundy.  Bundy is a rookie with local ties.  He played for Boulder Creek High School in Anthem and is out of the University of New Mexico .

2015: Bundy sure must have impressed someone in the Cardinals front office.  He only caught seven passes in 2015 for 110 yards.  His most productive season was in 2013 when he caught 19 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns.  He did not have a touchdown reception last season for the Lobos.

2016: Bundy performed well enough in rookie minicamp as a tryout player to be given a longer look.  He ran a 4.4 40 in his pro day and likely that was something that caught eyes as well.

He is a very long shot at most.  The term camp body comes to mind but nevertheless this is a shot for the local product.  At the very least he has a chance to show what he can do in front of professional coaches and if he can’t catch on here maybe someone else will give him a shot.

Speed is a dangerous thing and if you can run fast and catch the ball, that seems to be a good fit in the NFL, especially in an offense like the Cardinals.  There are 11 receivers on the roster right now. Six at most will make the final 53-man roster in September.  Maybe he can perform well enough to be given an even longer look as a member of the practice squad?
