The Arizona Cardinals have concluded mini-camp with next stop training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.

In this profile we look at receiver Amir Carlisle.  Carlisle is an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame.

2015: Carlisle had 31 receptions for the Fighting Irish last season.  He had 351 yards receiving with one touchdown.  He also is a kick returner.

2016: After going undrafted, Carlisle still has a chance to make an NFL roster.  In Arizona it won’t be easy given the roster of receivers the Cardinals already have though.

His “in” likely will come on special teams but if he works hard enough there, he could make the 53-man roster and then see some spot time as a receiver.

The knock on Carlisle is his size.  He is at 5’10 and works more as a slot receiver than anything else.  He had speed though and we all know what speed can do for you in the NFL.

Ultimately it would be nice to see him in a Cardinals uniform after following his college career, however it is hard to imagine him making the roster given what is already there.

This is why training camp and preseason games are held though.  If he doesn’t make the Cardinals roster he could be playing for a spot on another roster.  He is a guy that can contribute.  Don’t sleep on him.
