The Arizona Cardinals have concluded mini-camp with next stop training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.

In this profile we look at long snapper Kameron Canaday.  Canaday is a rookie out of Portland State.

2015: Canaday, as a member of the FCS Portland State Vikings, was voted to the FCS Third Team All-America.  Impressive given he is a long snapper.

2016: Canaday was given workouts by both the Cardinals and the Denver Broncos back in March. With the retirement of long-time long snapper Mike Leach after the 2015 season the Cardinals are in the market to find his replacement.

Sometimes the long snapper can be the forgotten man on the roster.  However this season it will be one of great importance for the Cardinals after having the stability at the position since 2009.

For the Cardinals to sign a guy like Canaday after a private workout speaks volumes as to what Steve Keim and company see in the man.

Canaday will be given every chance to take advantage of this opportunity.  He will face some competition though.  The Cardinals also have Danny Dillon on the roster, a rookie out of Clemson.

Who knew that long snapper would be one of the more interesting positions to keep an eye on this preseason?
