The Arizona Cardinals are just five days away from opening training camp in Glendale

We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. Players report to training camp this Thursday July 28th.

In this profile we look at receiver Larry Fitzgerald.  He enters his 13th season in the NFL out of Pittsburgh.

2015: What can you say about Fitzgerald’s season in 2015?  He had a re-birth of sorts, except he never really went anywhere.

He lead the team and set a career-high in receptions with 109 last season.  It was only the third time in his career that he eclipsed 100 receptions in a single-season.

He also caught for 1,215 yards with nine touchdowns.  It was his first 1,000-plus yard season since 2011.

Blame the new contract or whatever you want.  Fitz really never went away though.  His lack of production wasn’t necessarily his fault and some people wanted him traded before his contract was up in order to still get value in return for losing him.

2016: There should not be much drop off this season.  He goes into the season still as the number one receiver.  He will still be a prime target of quarterback Carson Palmer.

The biggest question facing Fitz this season is will it be his last in Arizona?  Will it be his last in the NFL?  I think it may be tough for him to find another 109 receptions but who knows?  Maybe he eclipse’s 110 this season?

With Fitz still performing at a Pro-Bowl level the only way I see this as possibly his last season is if the Cardinals win the Super Bowl.  Otherwise he likely still has a good couple of years left in him.
