Arizona Cardinals veterans reported to camp on Thursday

Here we are.  Everyone is in camp now that Arizona Cardinals veterans reported today.  Head coach Bruce Arians met with the media and shared some injury news.

Rookie defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche sprained an ankle this week.  Cornerback Justin Bethel had a foot incident and safety Tyrann Mathieu’s rehab is going very well.

Nkemdiche sprained his ankle this week and is listed as day-to-day.  The Cardinals are unsure how much time he will miss.  Bethel suffered a setback after his spring surgery and will start camp on the physically unable to perform list.  Arians said his issue will be about pain tolerance.

As for Mathieu, he is likely back full in about two to three weeks and will start on the PUP list.  He tweeted in not so many words the same thing on Thursday.  That’s about the best news you can hear from a guy that tore an ACL in week 15 last season.

Other injuries include defensive tackle Frostee Rucker who is coming off ankle surgery in the offseason as well.  He will be on the PUP list as well for the time being.  Arians indicated they wouldn’t rush him back at this point.

As for other news from camp, cornerback Patrick Peterson arrived to camp on Thursday in a helicopter because of course he did.  Also, all veterans that reported to camp Thursday passed the annual conditioning test that all players are required to pass before they can participate in training camp.

So that leaves the Cardinals in place to be ready to go with their first practice at University of Phoenix Stadium on Friday afternoon.  Arians mentioned Thursday the goal remains the same this year as last, win the Super Bowl.  They came up short last season and Arians said he expects to get better this season and seal the deal. That sounds just fine to me.
