The Arizona Cardinals head west to take on the San Diego Chargers on Friday night

It’s week two of the preseason for both the Arizona Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers.  The Cardinals have been in San Diego since Monday with joint practices Tuesday and Wednesday this week.  Now it’s time to play some more exhibition football.

Date: Friday August 19th

Start Time: 6:00 p.m. PT
Location: San Diego, CA
Stadium: Qualcomm Stadium
TV Info: ABC 15 (Phoenix), CBS 8 (San Diego)
Live Stream: NFL Game Pass (only on replay after game)

The Cardinals are coming off a 31-10 loss to the Oakland Raiders last Friday night in Glendale. Most of the starters played just about a series.  Some did play throughout the game to get reps.

Quarterback Carson Palmer, running back David Johnson, and receiver Larry Fitzgerald had one drive last Friday.  They aren’t likely to get much more on Friday night against the Chargers.  Head coach Bruce Arians has said he would like his starters to get at least 50 snaps in the four preseason games.  The bulk of those should come next week against the Houston Texans.

Friday night will be a chance again to see what guys like cornerback Brandon Williams and offensive tackles D.J. Humphries can do.  Both are currently starters and Arians would love to keep it that way.

A few guys that definitely won’t play will be safety Tyrann Mathieu, cornerback Justin Bethel, and defensive tackle Frostee Rucker.  All three just came off the PUP list this week.  They may all see some game time in a week or two.

Also noticeably absent this week is receiver John Brown.  He has been in concussion protocol since suffering a concussion on July 31st.  He is not in San Diego this week with the team.

As for the Chargers, they are also coming off a loss in preseason week one.  They lost to the Tennessee Titans 27-10.  Don’t look for much from Chargers starters either.
