The Arizona Cardinals are out trying to make their roster better after loss to New England Patriots

The Arizona Cardinals have stood pat on their 53-man roster, for now after their disappointing loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday evening. The practice squad though can not say the same thing.

On Monday, the Cardinals released quarterback Aaron Murray from the squad and added back cornerback Trevon Hartfield. It was no surprise that it didn’t take the Cardinals long to rid themselves of one of the two practice squad quarterbacks.  The other is Zac Dysart.

This move was likely a two-fold necessity.  First, they didn’t need two spots on the squad being taken up by quarterbacks.  Many speculated one of the two would not be in a Cardinals uniform for long.

Secondly, it was likely the need to get another cornerback into the lockeroom.  The depth is so shallow there as we saw Sunday night. Justin Bethel is hurting and the Cardinals may at some point need to activate another corner.

On Tuesday, the Cardinals waived receiver Chris Hubert and added Marquis Bundy.  This was an interesting move given what a great preseason and camp Hubert had.

No official word from the team on the move other than what showed up on the transaction report. Tuesday is the players day off.

Hubert must not have been able to continue his performance in practice over the past week since being signed to the practice squad.  Bundy played fairly well towards the end of preseason.

This was a straight swap of receivers, so this had to be about Hubert’s performance in practice and nothing else.  We wish him luck.
