The Arizona Cardinals had two players not participate in practice on Thursday

The Arizona Cardinals injury report on Thursday could have been worse given what they’ve been through.  Just two players did not practice on Thursday, defensive tackle Frostee Rucker and punter Drew Butler.

Several players however were listed as limited practice participants on Thursday. One of those listed was guard Evan Mathis.

Also listed as limited participants in Thursday’s practice were cornerback Justin Bethel, safety Tyvon Branch, and linebackers Markus Golden and Kareem Martin.

One interesting note from the full practice players on the injury report is from rookie defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche.  He has been inactive the past two weeks due to an ankle injury.

If Nkemdiche is inactive again this Sunday you can bet people will ask why.  The most likely reason will be it was more than just an ankle injury that is keeping out the first-round pick.

As for safety Tyrann Mathieu, he was was on the report Thursday but was listed as a full participant.  Also participating in full was receiver Michael Floyd.  He cleared his concussion protocol.

The big one here that did not practice was Mathis.  It sure sounds like he could end up being a week-by-week decision.  They could really use his veteran leadership given the issues the line seems to be having right now in protecting quarterback Carson Palmer and blocking for the Cards running backs.

Receiver Larry Fitzgerald was also listed as a full participant in practice on Thursday.  He has been hampered by a sprained MCL in his knee.  Seeing him participating in full at practice is the best thing the Cardinals could have asked for.

As for the Los Angeles Rams, they did not practice on Thursday.  However they still released an injury report with the biggest injury being to receiver Tavon Austin who has an injured shoulder.
