Arizona Cardinals receiver John Brown has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday night

Arizona Cardinals receiver John Brown was listed as doubtful for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.  He was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Trait.

The trait, which comes from the genes of just one parent, not both, was discovered as the cause of leg pain Brown has been having for the last couple of seasons.  He has not been completely ruled out for the game against the Seahawks.

What it does mean though is there is some uncertainty surrounding his condition.  Head coach Bruce Arians did indicate it was possible for Brown to feel fine on Sunday and end up playing, thus an indication why he has not been ruled completely out yet.

If Brown truly is a no-go this Sunday night, it is definitely time for receiver Michael Floyd to show up.  Receiver Jaron Brown is also questionable for Sunday night.

Floyd and receiver Larry Fitzgerald torched the Seahawks up in Seattle last season.  Now all we can hope for is a repeat.  They will need it.

With the way the passing game has evolved this season for the Cardinals offense, that statement is easier said than done.  The capability is there for a huge game from both Fitz and Floyd however.

John Brown had a good game this past Monday against the New York Jets.  He had five receptions for 54 yards in the 28-3 victory.

Now the main concern of course is his health.  The Cardinals should treat this seriously and they will.  They are not the first team in this predicament though.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark also had the same condition and was able to play through it for the most part.  He did have issues playing in higher altitudes however.

As there is no cure for this disease, it is one that can be controlled properly and allow Brown to continue his career.  Until everyone has a handle on the situation, it’s time for the other Cardinals receivers to step up big against a very tough upcoming schedule.
