The Arizona Cardinals road to the playoffs in 2017 may not be as difficult as you think

Some have already written off the 2017 Arizona Cardinals because they have little faith in quarterback Carson Palmer.  The majority of fans though are happy to have him back.

With his return Palmer will see a fairly easy schedule in 2017 when looking at opponents 2016 records.  Of course one season’s results have nothing to do with the next but it’s all we have to compare with going forward.

The Cardinals have the 10th-easiest schedule in the NFL this upcoming season.  The combined record in 2016 of their 2017 opponents is 118-135-3, a .467 winning percentage.

The easiest schedule belongs to the Indianapolis Colts.  Their opponents were 107-146-3, a .424 winning percentage.  The toughest schedule?  That belongs to the 147-107-2, a .578 winning percentage.

To remind you of their schedule, the Cardinals play the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Rams at home.

The Cardinals play the Colts, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, Seahawks, 49ers, and Rams on the road.  The Rams game is in London.

There is still a lot of construction work to be done on everyone’s roster, so this may not mean much in the end but its all we have to go on right now.  With only two possibilities of having to play cold outdoor games (Philadelphia, Washington) in 2017, the schedule already seems to be in the Cardinals favor.

This is just one piece of the equation.  The 2017 NFL schedule with dates and times still needs to be released.  There are still two months to go until that happens.

The Cardinals could be looking at as many as 11 possible indoor games next season.  University of Phoenix Stadium games and games at Indianapolis and Houston have the possibility of playing indoors.  The Lions game is the only place they will play with a non-retractable roof.
