The Arizona Cardinals went to Grambling State to get their third round selection

The Arizona Cardinals had been linked with drafting a wide receiver all offseason.  On Friday night they made it a reality.

Chad Williams, out of Grambling State, was chosen with the 98th-overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.  He caught for over 3,000-yards in his four years with the Tigers.

One look at his numbers over his time at Grambling State and you can immediately see why the Cardinals would be high on him.  He caught 210-passes for 28-touchdowns in 47 career-games.

Williams saved his best for his senior season in 2016.  He caught 90-passes for 1,337-yards and 11-touchdowns.  For good measure he also threw a 32-yard touchdown pass last season.

One of the biggest nights for Williams last year actually came right here in Arizona.  He caught 13-passes for 152-yards against the Wildcats in Tucson last September.

From all accounts, a solid pick by the Cardinals from a football standpoint.  There is a little bit of baggage however that comes with Williams.

He was suspended for last season’s opener for the Tigers after being arrested for possession of marijuana and a firearm.  He also had an outstanding bench warrant.  I imagine the Cardinals did their homework on all of that before hand.
