The Arizona Cardinals wideout enters his 14th NFL season in 2017

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald is playing in 2017, that much is certain.  After that, it is anyone’s guess with Fitz himself likely not knowing the answer yet.

This past week Fitz indicated to media he would address his future once this season and that’s it. He does not want it to become the distraction it became last season.

Every week, especially early in the season, there were constant rumors about Fitz’s status in 2017.  Not only would he play but if he did, would it be with the Cardinals?

Fitz made his decision to return for his 14th season about a month after the 2016 season ended. He didn’t keep fans and the team waiting long.

He continues to produce and as long as he feels good and can continue to produce the way he did in 2016, there is always the chance he will return again.  Many feel though this is it in 2017.

We’ll see.  He just came off a season in which he led the NFL in receptions with 107.  He had 109 in 2015.

Fitz also became the first NFL receiver to lead the league in receptions at least 11 years apart.  He lead the NFL in receptions in 2005.

It is a testament to his work ethic.  He keeps himself in shape.  He still wants to win the Super Bowl.  It is the biggest reason he continues to return.

Unless something newsworthy comes across in 2017 though, we should just let him play.  Leave the retirement talk alone until the season ends.

Let’s not even speculate about it.  Let’s enjoy having Fitz for however much longer we can in a Cardinals uniform.

If he retires, he retires.  Only Fitz controls that.  We can’t, so why fret over the idea?  We all know that day will come and likely sooner rather than later.
