The news was not so shocking when it came down on Friday morning that the Arizona Cardinals had cut Kevin Kolb. It was more of a matter of when rather than if. Although not reported, it is believed that Kolb refused to restructure his deal. In a way, he did the right thing. He is able to leave and still get paid pretty well to compete for a job elsewhere. It doesn’t service Arizona in the short term as he had the most experience on the roster, however with the team retooling its offense, he wasn’t going to be the answer long term.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb might be staying with the Cards next season, however it most likely will not be at the current $11 million he is due to make. While I’ve been in Kolb’s camp since day one, I believe this is a very good idea. Kolb needs to understand the current need to improve at the quarterback position, including his own performance. There also is the issue of his durability. That being said, I still think the Cards need to give him another shot in 2013.

I’ve seen and heard several suggestions that the Arizona Cardinals go after New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez when the season ends. I’m here to tell you that is a colossally bad idea. Not only would you bring in a poor quarterback and thus not fixing the issues the Cards have at the position now, you also will be shelling out a ton of money to do it. So, just stop it!
