15th Pick – Los Angeles Rams (7-9)
Laquon Treadwell – WR
Ole Miss – Junior
6-2, 210 Pounds
Time and time again, the Rams seem to be in position to draft the drafts top wide receiver, though they could do it, the Rams decide to go in another direction. The offensive line does seem very young and innexperienced, but I don’t see any reason to invest in anything but wide receiver. The Kenny Britt experiment needed to be over last off-season, while Tavon Austin seems to need the ball in his hands on every play to be effective. I did like what I saw from Brian Quick, but his time seems over with the Rams.
In the beginning of the draft season (August and September), every possible analyst including myself, seemed to like Laquon Treadwell as the first possible wide receiver. Don’t take it personal Laquon, but I give the advantage to Corey Coleman of Baylor because of his ballooned statistics. Although, Laquon Treadwell is very talented, he could eventually what St. Louis (I mean Los Angeles now) was used to when they had Isaac Bruce. A steady pair of hands with great route running abilities, and a guy you could depend on for steady run-blocking.
Is it time for the Rams to draft a quarterback to replace a very poor Nick Foles? Nope. I say they should invest some time into Sean Mannion, a kid they picked up last year from Oregon State. At the very least, the Rams should give the Foles/Mannion competition one more year to see if it works. The selection of Treadwell is only going to help the Rams competition, and could actually (finally) help the Rams over the hump of sub-par quarterback play.
