Drew Stanton

Stanton signed with the Cardinals early on in 2013.  He was one of the first guys coach Bruce Arians brought in.  Initially brought in as a starter only to be relegated to backup once the Cardinals traded for Palmer later on, Stanton has proved his worth and then some.

Stanton went 5-3 for the Cardinals in place of Palmer in 2014.  When he went down with his own season-ending injury in 2014, the Cardinals chances to win were over as well.

Now the biggest question is, are the Cardinals prepared to pay well to keep him.  Stanton is once again a free agent and word is he will be attempting to command a pretty penny.  The Cardinals have already said they won’t over spend for a free agent but this is one I think they should.  They know first hand how valuable a veteran reliable backup is in this league.

Stanton isn’t Palmer by any stretch of the imagination but he isn’t Logan Thomas, John Skelton, Max Hall, Derek Anderson, or Ryan Lindley either.
