Arizona Cardinals: 5 players to watch

3. Jake Coker

The former University of Alabama product seems ready to go and fight for the third quarterback spot on the roster.  Currently on the depth chart that belongs to Matt Barkley.

Barkley hasn’t done enough to secure the spot though.  The Cardinals by going and signing Coker to an undrafted free agent contract have said we don’t know who our quarterback of the future is yet.

Coker looked decent last weekend in the rookie mini-camp according to Arians. Arians said there were some throws off target but a lot of that had to do with receivers not running the correct route.

Coker knows how to win.  That’s what you need in addition to skill.  You need experience.  Winning experience.  That doesn’t automatically mean he will succeed at the NFL level but winning a national championship does count for a lot.

In the end don’t be surprised to see Coker win the battle with Barkley, who is still around after being traded for a seventh round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
