Troy Niklas

Speaking of Notre Dame guys, tight end Troy Niklas may just yet make a name for himself in Arizona.  He has been sort of the forgotten tight end in the mix over his first two seasons.  He has had trouble staying healthy.

Niklas, known more for his blocking, showed off his receiving and running skills on Friday night. He caught two passes for 44 yards, including a long of 32 yards.  He showed some moves to dodge defenders left and right on his 32-yard catch and run.

That is the Niklas many have been wanting to see over the past two seasons.  If I were ranking the tight ends, I’d be putting him third on the depth chart right now behind Darren Fells and Jermaine Gresham.

Depending on how many tight ends the Cardinals intend to keep, Niklas may be fighting for a spot with guys like Ifeanyi Momah and Gerald Christian.
