James Conner is a big bruising back who could be attractive to the Cardinals

If the Cardinals decide to go with a backup to David Johnson, they could opt to go with a big, punishing type of running back. Johnson runs with power, and having another power pack could help wear down defenses, and allow Arizona’s star to shine in the fourth quarter. James Conner could be an option in this case.

Conner is a big back. He’s a punishing runner who breaks tackles and delivers hits just as big as the ones he takes. He’s not going to break many long runs in the NFL, but he will be effective at getting tough yards and first downs. Also, fans will love him.

At today’s workouts, Conner showed off some of what makes him draft-worthy. After getting 20 reps in the bench press, he posted solid numbers for his size (6’1″, 233 lbs) including a 4.65 second 40-yard dash and a 29 inch vertical jump.
