Offensive lineman Dion Dawkins made himself some money today

Last season’s starting center and guard, AQ Shipley and Evan Mathis respectively, are no longer with the team. Shipley is a free agent, and thus could return, and Mathis retired. The Cardinals do have some guys who could compete for those spots, but they could decide to strengthen one, or both, through the draft.

Dion Dawkins is a college tackle who will probably move to guard in the NFL. He has good size, and he’s strong enough to push defenders around. He also brings experience, having started for three seasons at Temple.

In his workout, Dawkins put on a show. He started out by running well, even though 40 times aren’t important for the offensive line. What was important is the way he looked in the drills. He moved his feet well, and impressed nearly everyone. After today, if the Cardinals want him, they might have to take him in round two.
