John Ross put on a show at his 40-yard dash at the Combine

The Cardinals are certainly going to be looking at the wide receiver position in this year’s draft. It isn’t necessarily the team’s biggest need, but there are plenty of talented pass catchers available, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they took one, even early.

One receiver the Cardinals would have to choose early, if they want him, is John Ross. Ross is a speedster who can get deep in a hurry, and has to be accounted for on every play. In 2016, he recorded 81 catches for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Ross was the story of the day in Indy. He blistered the 40-yard dash, setting a new combine record with a time of 4.22 seconds. Combined with his 37 inch vertical jump, and 11’1″ broad jump, showed his explosiveness. He comes with some medical worries, but in a Cardinals offense that loves to throw it deep, he could be a great fit. Unfortunately, thanks to his workout, brief as it was, they might have to use that 13th pick to get him.
