Deshaun Watson was already considered a top pick, and did nothing to hurt that perception

Quarterback is the most important position on the field, and after the 2017 season, the Cardinals might not have one. That uncertainty makes it easy to picture them using an early pick this year to get their passer for the future.

Deshaun Watson is almost universally considered one of the two or three best quarterbacks in this draft class. His numbers are impressive, but it’s his intangibles that have teams drooling. He’s a leader, he wins games, and he shows all the poise a great player could ever need.

Watson’s athletic numbers were good at the Combine, which isn’t a surprise. He also looked natural and relaxed going through the drills. He was mostly on target, and looked good in everything he was asked to do. He’s not the classic type of passer that the Cardinals like, and they would have to use their first pick to get him, but he could be a very nice option for the post-Palmer era.
