Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford

Was the move the Cardinals made with Andre Ellington from running back to receiver last week with this pick in mind?  I wouldn’t put it past the Cardinals.

At 13, it does seem like a bit of a stretch to get a guy who would back David Johnson up.  Then again, if the Cardinals are looking to give Johnson a break in the backfield, McCaffrey would be a perfect compliment.

The Cardinals still want to give Johnson 30 touches a game but are looking to reduce his carries, so that means more receiving opportunities.  Enter a guy like McCaffrey.

Yes, the Cardinals still have Kerwynn Williams but despite what Arians has said publicly about him, I still am not sure they are sold on him being a full-time backup.

McCaffrey is projected to go late first round to early second round.  He is ranked by most behind Leonard Fournette of LSU and Dalvin Cook of Florida State.

He would be another stretch at 13, so maybe the Cardinals move down in the first round with him still on the board?  I wouldn’t rule it out.
