Arizona Cardinals: Mock Draft 2.0
Ben Boulware could find himself in a Kevin Minter-type role in the Cardinals defense, and just like Minter, will likely spend his rookie season on the bench backing up Karlos Dansby. The reason I have the Cardinals waiting to choose an inside backer is because of the versatility of second pick Melinfonwu and the addition of veteran Dansby.
Boulware is will likely be restricted to being primarily a run-defender because of his slow 4.85 40 time, but a run-defending role will play to his strengths. In 2016, Boulware was in on 116 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, four sacks, three forced fumbles, and even two INTs. Even though the inside linebacker lacks elite speed, he has a nose for the ball.
I could also see Keim and company going in the direction of another defensive back with this pick since the linebacker positions has proven commodities in Dansby and Buchannon while the safety position is being inhabited by new-comer Antoine Bethea and the fragile-but-agile Tyrann Mathieu.
