Arizona Cardinals: 5 undrafted free agents to watch for
By Scott Allen
Sojourn Shelton, CB, Wisconsin
The Cardinals also skipped drafting a cornerback. This was to the dismay of many Cardinals fans. They wasted little time though in calling Shelton and bringing him in.
He finished 2016 with the Badgers with 31 tackles, 12 passes defensed, and four interceptions. He finished his four-years at Wisconsin with 129 tackles, 30 passes defensed, and nine interceptions.
With those numbers you’d have to wonder why someone didn’t draft him in the middle to late rounds? His big issue might be his size.
He stands at 5’9 and is just 177 pounds. That’s not the typical size the Cardinals like at the corner position but you can’t ignore the talent.
Shelton will be an interesting guy to watch this summer. The Cardinals last season said they had wanted to get taller, faster, and younger. Well, they are getting two of the three with Shelton.
