Troy Niklas

When the 2016 preseason got going, it appeared that the Cardinals were finally getting what they wanted out of Niklas.  He played so well early in in the preseason, some believed he was going to push Darren Fells and Jermaine Gresham for a starting spot.

That feeling was short-lived. Niklas only ended up playing in three games last season for the Cardinals.

Now entering his fourth season, time is short, at least with Arizona, for Niklas.  Gresham signed a new contract and Ikefani Momah also returns.  Fells is gone however.

Niklas, known more for his pass-blocking skills, still has to produce when he is on the field.  He only has eight receptions over his first three seasons in the NFL.  That won’t cut it no matter how well he can block.

Niklas will have to fight for a spot in training camp.  He could be a late-August casualty.  Of course it would also help if he could remain healthy and that is a big if when it comes to him.
