Arizona Cardinals: 5 who could surprise at camp
By Scott Allen
Ricky Seals-Jones
Tight ends don’t get talked about a lot in Bruce Arians’ offense but this season may be the exception. The Cardinals re-signed Jermaine Gresham but look for some good production from Seals-Jones this preseason.
In 2016, he only played in nine games for Texas A&M but over his four-year career showed some good productivity. He was a receiver at A&M but will play tight end for the Cardinals.
He had 26 receptions for 333-yards and one touchdown last season. However he had 94 receptions for 1,025-yards and eight touchdowns between the 2014 and 2015 seasons. Again, great productivity over a 24-game span in college.
At 6’5, he stands just as tall as Gresham. Gresham has 17 pounds on him, at 260 against Seals-Jones at 243. With uncertainty surrounding the future of Troy Niklas, Seals-Jones could push his way up the depth chart. He will definitely be one to watch in July and August.
