The Ugly:

The kicking game

Now granted, the kicking game was only ugly because the Cardinals left the kicking duties to their punters Richie Leone and Matt Wile.

The Cardinals decided that in addition to resting their starters on Thursday night, they were also going to rest kicker Phil Dawson.  Hopefully the Cardinals are not considering having Leone or Wile audition for the backup role.

Leone went 0-1 in field goal attempts and looked bad doing it, although he was able to connect on an extra-point.  Wile wasn’t much better.  He went 1-3 in field goal attempts but his misses may have looked worse than Leone’s.

The good news is neither one will be kicking this season unless in an emergency.  No word on if Dawson will return to kicking next week.

So everyone complaining about the kicking game not improving can be rest assured, this isn’t Chandler Catanzaro all over again.  This was an ugly night of punters trying to be kickers.
