Arizona Cardinals vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Good, bad, ugly
By Scott Allen
The Bad
Defense
You can’t talk about a 31-0 lead turn into an eventual 38-33 win without looking at the defense. There were mistakes. We’ll talk about those later.
For now, the defense, which looked pretty good early, was bad in the fourth quarter. Of the 27 points scored, 21 of those can be blamed on the defense.
You could see it snowballing in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals went in leading 31-6 but something still didn’t feel right.
Cornerback Patrick Peterson left the game with a quad injury, enter Tramon Williams. Williams did make a nice pick that set up the Cardinals one fourth quarter score. However on the Bucs still had time to do more damage.
The Cardinals up at 38-20, still couldn’t finish the deal. Justin Bethel got beat big time to make it 38-33 with just over two minutes left.
It’s over though and the Cardinals win. They fly to London on Monday. Hopefully they spend time reviewing film and working on making corrections on the way over.
