Dennis Gardeck

He started the night as a third string linebacker behind Deone Bucannon and Jeremy Cash.  He could find himself up a notch on the depth chart this week.

He not only had the tackle on Chargers quarterback Nic Shimonek to save the game at the end on Saturday night, but he also had five overall tackles.  The five tackles were second only to safety Rudy Ford.

Gardeck played hard and is likely to get more chances to show what he can do.  Cash is likely lost for the season after being carted off with a knee injury against the Chargers.

That doesn’t mean someone can’t come in and be better than Gardeck but for now, I think he deserves the chance to show what he can do.  Bucannon didn’t play on Saturday night and is still considered day to day after his injury in practice the other day.

A lot will also depend how many linebackers the Cardinals want to keep overall.  However based on Saturday night, Gardeck did nothing but help himself.
