J.J. Nelson

For the last two years we’ve been waiting for Nelson to step up.  When he’s on, he’s on.  If he catches a ball in the open, he’s as good as gone.

No one can catch him with his lightening speed.  But the problem is he can’t catch a ball.  Carrying over to the preseason his inability to catch a ball could cost him one of the top five spots on the depth chart.

He’s always exhibited issues every now and then with hanging on to passes.  In 2017 he was very inconsistent.

Unfortunately for him, 2018 has not started off any better for him.  Bottom line is the Cardinals need guys that catch the ball first.

Speed is nice and all but speed only kills in this game as a receiver if you have the ball in your hands.  Not every pass Nelson fails to come up with is his fault but the fact is he can’t make a play on anything thrown his way.
