Thursday night should see a lot of the backups fight for not only making the team but where they make it on the depth chart as well.  Here are the spots that look to take the preseason competition into the final game.

Quarterback: Mike Glennon vs Chad Kanoff

For now it looks like Glennon’s job but there are rumors out there Wednesday other teams are interested in his services.  If he does get traded, does that mean Kanoff gets the third spot or does it mean the Cardinals decide to carry just two quarterbacks?

Kicker: Phil Dawson vs Matt McCrane

Most seem to think although McCrane has shown promise, that Dawson’s experience will win out here.  Does a good showing by McCrane on Thursday night help sway a decision.  Dawson hasn’t exactly lit the preseason up.

Center: Right now it is Mason Cole‘s job to lose but do you want to go into the regular season with a rookie at center?  Daniel Munyer did not look good at center in the preseason but did look much better at guard last week.

Tight end: What is the status of Jermaine Gresham?  Will he have to go on the PUP list?  if so he misses the first two months of the season.  Then do you go add a veteran to backup Ricky Seals Jones and Gabe Holmes?

Receiver:  This could be the most intriguing watch.  Outside of Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, and Chad Williams, no one is a lock.  Greg Little, J.J. Nelson, Brice Butler, Trent Sherfield likely are fighting for 2-3 spots.

Defensive line: Same with Markus Golden as with Gresham.  What is his status?  He seems destined to start the season on PUP.  Knowing that, do the Cardinals go with backups they know they can easily part with in October?

Next. Arizona Cardinals should sit Rosen in preseason finale. dark

Cornerbacks/Safety: There are going to be some cuts here that could hurt.  The secondary has played fairly well this preseason.  The backups like Deatrick Nichols, A.J. Howard, Zeke Turner, Chris Campbell have all played well at times.  I would expect a couple of these guys not to be around after Thursday night.
