Steven Peoples, RB, Virginia Tech

The Cardinals are seemingly set with at least their top two running backs in David Johnson and Chase Edmonds.  There was no reason to draft a running back this season.  They invited Peoples to their rookie mini-camp.

Competition never hurts and you never know when you may find a diamond in the rough.  Peoples comes from a top notch program at Virginia Tech.

Peoples had the chance to play all four seasons at Virginia Tech but wasn’t a huge contributor until his 2018 season.  He played in 13 games with the Hokies last year.

He had 758-yards rushing last season on 158 carries.  That worked out to a five-yard-per-carry average.  That’s not a number that can be completely ignored.

He had six touchdowns rushing.  But what also is intriguing is he played a part in the passing game as well.  He caught 21 passes for 182-yards and a touchdown.  It sounds he could be a lot like Johnson, although Peoples is about two inches shorter.
