Key injuries

Arizona: The biggest concern going into Sunday’s game right now would seem to be for receiver DeAndre Hopkins.  He didn’t practice all week.  Coach Kliff Kingsbury has called him a gametime decision.  Safety Chris Banjo is the only player ruled oout so far, however they have six other players in addition to Hopkins listed as questionable.

Carolina: The big one is running back Christian McCaffrey.  He went on injured reserve and can’t play until at least October 18th.

Tackle Russell Okung is questionable.  He missed practice on Wednesday and was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday.  Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos missed practice Wednesday and Thurday and was limited on Friday.

Prediction

It’s difficult to see where these teams are at this point.  This game will say a lot about where they each are at the quarter point of the season.  Like we said, Carolina has not been too friendly with the Cardinals.

Carolina won last year’s matchup 38-20 in Arizona after a strong second half performance. Murray has to right himself a bit.  He will still make mistakes but needs to limit them.

If the Cardinals can cut down on penalties, especially when creating turnovers and initially stopping opponents on third downs, then that is a step in the right direction.  Carolina played well against the Chargers last week, a week after the Chargers almost beat the Kansas City Chiefs.

Look for the Cardinals to come out an assert themselves.  They had a lot of mistakes in giving one away to the Lions last week.

Carolina won’t go without a fight, but it is a fight the Cardinals should win.  Cardinals 34 Panthers 27.
