Dennis Gardeck is second on the depth chart behind Chandler Jones

The rise of Dennis Gardeck has been fun to watch. From his special teams heroics of seasons past to last season’s breakout of seven sacks, including two each in Weeks 14 and 15 against the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles, he is for sure a fan favorite.

Gardeck shows his extreme passion for the game and plays hard on every down. Every team needs a Dennis Gardeck.

Gardeck, however, finished last season with a torn ACL, suffered in that Week 15 game against the Eagles. To have a torn ACL that late in the season and be sitting second on the depth chart at this point is something.

It’s something because he is also currently sitting on the PUP list, which means he cannot practice. He was placed on the list just before camp started. Now over two weeks into camp, he has yet to move off the list.

If Gardeck is still on the list at the end of preseason, he will have to miss at least the first six games of the 2021 season. Being that high on the depth chart might mean he is closer to returning than we thought.
