Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald was recently asked about how the six-game suspension of DeAndre Hopkins could impact his legacy.

Following the recent six-game suspension of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, the Arizona Cardinals know that the first portion of the 2022 season is going to be difficult without him on the field. Some might be counting the Cardinals out after the suspension, but former Arizona receiver Larry Fitzgerald believes his old team can “weather the storm.”

The comments from Fitzgerald came from a recent discussion he had with a TMZ reporter about how the suspension could impact the Cardinals next season.

The former Arizona pass-catcher told TMZ that he thinks his old squad will be able to soften the blow of Hopkins not being available for the first six games thanks to the other offensive weapons on their roster like tight end Zach Ertz and wide receiver Marquise Brown.

Larry Fitzgerald doesn’t think suspension will hurt legacy of Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins

During this recent conversation with TMZ, Fitzgerald was also asked if Hopkins’ suspension would taint the legacy of his NFL career.

Fitzgerald didn’t beat around the bush and he was quick to explain why with his answer.

"“He’ll still be a Hall of Famer. He’s talented. He’ll work through it. It’s some adversity and he’s a tough guy, resourceful, and he’ll work his way through it.”"

Hopefully, the Cardinals legend is correct. Things might get a little dicey, however, if Hopkins isn’t the same player when he returns from his suspension next season for Arizona.

We saw the decline in the performance of former Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson after he was hit with a six-game suspension in 2019 for violating the NFL’s PED policy. A similar outcome for Hopkins next season would certainly raise some eyebrows.
