Countdown to “D” Day

We are now one week away from the 2008 NFL Draft.  I think I’ve seen more mock drafts than women hanging around Cardinals QB Matt Leinart.  It’s time to heat up the debate Cardinal fans, as to who you think the Cardinals should take in the first round.  I personally think they should go defense since that is where most of the help is needed right now, especially in the defensive secondary.

A lot of “experts” out there like the Cardinals for a RB.  I don’t like that thought.  Whoever it is will sit behind RB Edgerrin James for at least a season or two.  Taking a player in a position of need makes more sense in the first round.  If they want to take a RB in round two or three, I’m ok with that.

So, please weigh in.  Who do you think the Cardinals should take in the first round?  Seven days and waiting.

draftnation.com compiled 40 mock drafts and found that the Cardinals consensus pick is Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

That’s good - a CB. That’s what we need. Hopefully he or one of the other top CB’s are still around come pick # 16.

That’s what I’m sayin! I’m hoping for DRC or Mike Jenkins I wouldn’t hate it if we traded down a few spots to scoop an extra mid-round pick. To be honest, I’m not sold at all on McKelvin, simply because I think a lot of his value and the reason why he’s so highly rated is for his return ability. We don’t need that since we have Breaston, so I’d rather roll with someone who has excellent man coverage skills and can make plays on the ball. I also would be down with Keith Rivers if he is still available, but I agree with AZScott in that we should go defense.

I second that too! Our offense was rolling at the end of last season and we have all the skill players in place. We definitely need to upgrade the defensive side of the ball and strengthen our secondary. To be honest, I would be happy with DRC, Mike Jenkins, or Aqib Talib from Kansas. But if Rashard Mendenhall falls to us, I don’t know if we could pass on him. Either way, I like how many options we have.
