Warm Day at Cardinals Fan Fest

I had the pleasure of attending Cardinals Camp in Flagstaff on Saturday, a day that probably more fans than I’d ever seen at a Cardinals Training Camp practice.  That includes the two seasons I worked for the Cardinals.  In what my family and I expected to be a nice cool day 9and there were a couple of nice breezes), it turned out to be a sunny and warm day in Flagstaff.  My wife, my son, and I, all received some sort of sunburn.  You know what though?  It was all worth it.

The crowd was treated to an autograph session prior to practice, then during practice had the opportunity to watch the Cardinals work on several areas cinluding on-side kickoffs, Special Teams, goal line situations, and short field end zone pass drills.  For only being one week into camp, several skill players looked particulary sharp.  WR Larry Fitzgerald made a couple of nice catches in the end zone, much to the joy of the fans.  WR Steve Breaston also made a couple of nice grabs.  Both QB’s Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner had some nice touches on their throws.  I can tell you is was nice enough to keep the crowd excited and cheering as if there was something on the line on Saturday.

It’s especially nice to see them working on the small things, such as on-side kicks.  K Neil Rackers looked sharp in those drills.  The Cardinals took everything seriously Saturday.  They even had three NFL referees at practice to assist.  A warm day, but productive nonetheless.
