Second Quarter Gets Worse for Cards, Trail 24-7 at Half

Penalties, poor defense, and more penalties.  That is the first half in nut shell for the Arizona Cardinals as they trail the Atlanta Falcons 24-7.

Personal fouls, pass interferences, illegal formations, the Cards have pretty much done it all in the first half.

I expected the Cards to have a tough time, but they are doing it unto themselves for the most part.

The Cards had a great opportunity to go for it late in the half down 24-7.  It was 4th and 3.  Coach Ken Whisenhunt decided to allow Jay Feely to kick a 54 yard field goal and miss.  It gave Atlanta another opportunity to score.  However, Atlanta gave it right back and gave Arizona yet another opportunity to score before halftime.  Cards fumbled it, got it back, but then allowed the clock to run down before calling timeout with five seconds left.  Not sure what the plan was there.  Poor game management.   Just a poor game all the way around.

Look for more of the same in the second half.  Oh and by the way – the Falcons are 18-1 under coach Mike Smith when leading at halftime.
