This Arizona Cardinals Team Would Be Underdogs to the Bye

The way the Arizona Cardinals have come out and started off their season, at 1-4, if Las Vegas had such a bet, I’m sure these guys would be underdogs to the bye week this Sunday.  Luckily for them, they do have the bye week this week.  I know everyone hates going into the bye with a loss.  I’m not a fan of it either.  However, the bye week probably came at the right time.  They have no winning momentum to kill.  They can get their stuff straight and come back next week to prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers on October 23rd.

There are a number of things to correct and it would be foolish to think they can all be fixed in time for the Steelers game.  However if they can start working as a cohesive unit on both sides of the ball, that’s a start in the right direction.  There needs to be fight back.  This team, on paper, is better than their record suggests.  There is even improvement in some areas.  The running game is definitely in better shape than last season.  Of course, that’s as long as Beanie Wells keeps playing and stays healthy.

Clearly, the offensive line needs to block better.  Clearly, Kevin Kolb needs to play better.  Clearly, the defensive secondary, despite the injuries, needs to play better.  I am actually a little surprised with the performance of A.J. Jefferson. He has played better than I expected him to.  Still, everyone needs to step it up now.  There is still enough time, barely, to turn this thing around.
