With All Due Respect, This Arizona Cardinals Fan is for the Giants

I appreciate the opinions of all, including the staff of raisingzona.com.  One of our writers today gave his voice of approval in favor of the San Francisco 49’ers.   I don’t agree with his take as an Arizona Cardinals fan, however I do agree with the idea of sticking up for your division, except when it comes to the San Francisco 49’ers.  It is like a Dallas Cowboys fan cheering on the New York Giants, who I happen to be rooting for this weekend.  It is like a New York Yankees fan rooting for the Boston Red Sox.  It doesn’t happen.  Now while I guarantee nothing, I would imagine in the reverse situation, you’d be hard pressed to find a Niners fan rooting for the Cardinals.

While the game last week against the New Orleans Saints was a fun one to watch, I grant that, however I still will not root for the Niners this weekend.  I like where the Giants have done to improve despite all their injuries.  I respect Tom Coughlin.  My family is from New York.  There are a million reasons I could come up with but it again all comes down to one thing – I’m an Arizona Cardinals fan and I don’t like the 49’ers.  Period.

I am not a huge fan of the Seattle Seahawks or St. Louis Rams, but I just seem not to have the disdain for them like I do the Niners.  I can’t explain it.  Maybe it is the way the two teams go after each other or how the games against each other have played out.  The Niners season no doubt helps give the division respectability whether I like it or not.  Clearly a great season for them no matter the outcome this Sunday.  We will be seeing a lot more of them next season and I would not be surprised to see one of their games against the Cardinals back on national television next season.

The ability to express your opinion is what makes this country great and I’m extremely happy the opposite opinion was stated today because it allowed me to present an opposite view point.  If the Niners win on Sunday and so do the New England Patriots, at least I’ll have the Super Bowl commercials to keep me entertained on February 5th.
