Cardinals Have to Think About the Re-Signing of Doucet

I must admit that there’s a warm place in my heart for the oft-injured Early Doucet.  I became a believer after the amazing game he had against the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs a few years ago.  He’s strong and steady, with good hands and an ability to get open, especially when he’s lined up with Larry Fitzgerald.

This year, he caught 54 passes for 689 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Not a monster year, but not too bad either.  Most important, he played in all 16 games, showing that he can remain healthy for a full season.

Should the Arizona Cardinals re-sign him?  I’m not sure.  I think it depends for what price.  It will be interesting to see if he will be able to command big money on the free agent marketplace.  Perhaps the Cardinals will decide that it’s worth locking up Doucet to a new multi-year contract.  I think they could do a lot worse.
