Positive Signs: Cardinals Have All but Two Draft Picks Under Contract

With only the top two picks in the Arizona Cardinals 2012 draft class unsigned, that being receiver Michael Floyd and cornerback Jamell Fleming, that shows the Cards mean business in getting their guys to camp.  I have no reason to believe the Cards won’t get those two signed before camp starts.  First round picks tend to get signed last because everyone else is trying to see where guys around them will fall in terms of contracts.

The Cards latest to sign was their seventh round offensive lineman from Boise State, Nate Potter.  The Cards are not wasting anytime, especially with OTA’s starting today.  The Cards have struggled with their top picks before in terms of signing before training camp.  With camp starting a week earlier this year due to the Hall of Fame game, it is that much more important the Cards stop on top of negotiations.

No indications have been given as to how or even if contract negotiations have begun with either of the top two picks.  The Cards can ill-afford to allow Floyd to skip any training camp time.  Everyday missed is huge.  Of course I’m just getting ahead of myself.  It is still two months till camp opens in Flagstaff.
