The Arizona Cardinals have concluded mini-camp with next stop training camp in Glendale
We continue our annual look at player by player from A to Z on the current Arizona Cardinals roster as we are now entering the final stages of the offseason before the start of training camp. The next stop is training camp on July 28th.
In this profile we look at defensive tackle Red Bryant. Bryant signed with the Cardinals as a free agent in 2015.
2015: Bryant played in six games for the Cardinals last season after signing towards the end of the season in November. He had five tackles.
2016: Fast forward to this season and although Bryant will be in the mix, he will have work to do. Clearly the Cardinals liked what they saw as they signed him to a new contract. However the competition will be great.
Bryant, who spent the first six seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks before playing with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, will have a number of guys that could end up higher on the depth chart.
If Bryant makes the 2016 squad, it will likely be as a backup. The Cardinals are deep at defensive tackle. It could come down to him, Corey Peters, and Frostee Rucker for the final spots on the final 53 at the position.
Bryant knows what is expected of him. Keim brought him in during the middle of their run to the NFC West title, another next-man-up kind of guy. Bryant also has the experience. He’s played on winning squads and experience like that can be invaluable, especially to a young defensive tackle like Robert Nkemdiche.
