Cardinals Weekend Review

NFL.com Fantasy Expert Michael Fabino takes a team-by-team look at how WRs will do this season in fantasy football. He says that the duo of Boldin and Fitzgerald are possibly the best, and I agree. I have had them both before in fantasy leagues and I have never had any complaints. Read about all the teams here.

"The Cardinals boast one of the best (if not the best) duos of wide receivers in the NFL in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, both of whom are attractive No. 1 fantasy wideouts and worth early round selections. Fitzgerald has the edge in value, but both will be selected within a round of each other in most cases. The third receiver on the roster is Bryant Johnson, but he won’t have much draft value in most formats. Leonard Pope, Troy Bienemann and Ben Patrick are the top tight ends, but none of the trio warrants consideration."

FoxSports has their Cards team report up. Here are a couple of highlights from the article.

"Top off-season movesSteve Breaston, WR: The rookie out of Michigan may have just fallen into the perfect situation. Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald are superstars, but Bryant Johnson (the No. 3 receiver) has been somewhat of a disappointment in Arizona. If that continues, and Johnson has been nursing a hamstring injury in the off-season, Breaston could get a lot of good action as the team’s third option. This team will be throwing the ball early and often, so that makes him a quality sleeper pick.Terrence Holt, FS: The former Lion will be a nice addition to an already strong secondary that boasts one of the league’s top strong safeties in Adrian Wilson. Wilson’s presence will free Holt up to do what he does best, which is roaming free and making plays."

I agree about drafting Steve Breaston. Some people might have thought why the hell do we need a WR? Adding him in the fifth was a steal and will only help Leinart continue to develop into one of the best NFL quarterbacks. Breaston will get to learn from some of the best in the business. He says everything that is needed when writing about what Wilson can do for Holt.

"Top fantasy players for 2007Edgerrin James, RBLarry Fitzgerald, WRAnquan Boldin, WRMatt Leinart, QB"

I would have to disagree with the order. I think Edge will have a very strong year, but I actually think that Leinart could have the most fantasy points when this season is over.

"Who will surprise in 2007?Leonard Pope, TE: Pope was also a rookie last season, but he didn’t get involved in the offense all that much. He caught just 16 balls for 161 yards last year, and no games with more than two receptions. However, he’ll be coming into the season as the starter, which has to move him up draft boards a bit."

Well, let me just put it this way — If I was a TE in this offense, I would be a very happy. I think he will have around 30 catches. I think that would be considered a good year for Pope.
