Let’s hope this is not the start of a disturbing trend with key players getting injured during training camp. Today, cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was taken off the field after rolling an ankle during practice.
Not much was known about the extent of the injury, however coach Ken Whisenhunt said we should know more in the morning. Hopefully all turns out well. There have been some key injuries in camp so far. It seems a bullet was dodged with receiver Anquan Boldin. He returned to practice on Sunday. Unfortunately center Al Johnson is missing the rest of camp after surgery two weeks ago.
Even though Rodgers-Cromartie is not expected to be a starter, he is a key backup and is working with the starting special teams unit. From the sounds of it though, there didn’t seem to be an over concern with this injury, as apparently he attempted to continue to practice on it, but in the end it was just too sore. Cross your fingers for the news tomorrow.
