Cardinals Finish 9-7; Bring on Atlanta!

The Arizona Cardinals finished the regular season on Sunday with a 34-21 victory against the Seattle Seahawks to finish 9-7.  They will face the Atlanta Falcons at 2:30pm on Saturday at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Today was about balance, limiting mistakes (although they had their share today), and finishing with momentum.  What we saw today that has been missing the past couple of weeks:

A running attack.  Welcome back Edge. Edgerrin James had his first 100 yard game since opening day in San Francisco.  Sure, it came against Seattle, but they couldn’t run against an empty field in front of them all season, so this is an improvement.

Kurt Warner played much better.  Although he threw a ridiculous interception as the first half ended, he threw four touchdowns on 19-30 passes.  Not a bad day’s work.

Attitude.  Even when the Cardinals seemed to be reverting back to old ways with three consecutive bad penalties on a Seattle touchdown drive, the Cardinals kept a “not going to beat us” attitude today.  That’s the type of attitude they will need to carry into next Saturday.

Overall, 9-7 sounds great compared to what the Cardinals are used to.  After the last two weeks, it sounds outstanding.  It is disappointing that the Cardinals didn’t finish with 10 or 11 wins, however, they did enough to win the division and most of the time they don’t even come close.  How about that win against Miami in week two?  That now looks like the most impressive win of the season.  Miami finished 11-5.

On to the playoffs!!

Go Cards!
