Cardinals Receiving Core Becoming Thin
By Scott Allen
First it was Early Doucet. He went down early (no pun intended).
Then it was Steve Breaston. He is day to day.
Finally, a guy who looked to have a decent shot to make the team, rookie Michael Ray Garvin. Garvin had a good game against the Pittsburgh Steelers running punt returns.
The Arizona Cardinals receiving core is not one its weaknesses. Pretty soon though, it might be one of its thinest units. Save for Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, it may be time for Jerheme Urban or Sean Morey to step it up and take over the third spot for now. Lance Long is probably not ready yet. It is unknown right now how long Breaston’s injury will keep him out and how it will affect him when he returns. At this point, I would be happy not seeing Fitz or Quan until September 13th.
Garvin and Doucet may have a hard time making the team now given their injuries, however if anyone else falls, they may both be around when it comes time to host the San Francisco 49ers in the opener.
