Around the NFC West
By Scott Allen
As the Arizona Cardinals get ready to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night, I thought I’d take a look around the NFC West.
San Francisco (2-0): The divisional leaders are on the road this week taking on Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Mike Singletary said they need to tackle better if they wish to stop Peterson at all. It will be a tough test for Niners running back Frank Gore as well. That’s a tough place to go on the road and run the ball.
St. Louis (0-2): After almost pulling out the upset in Washington last Sunday, they finally head home for their opener against the Green Bay Packers, who are coming off an upset to the Cincinnati Bengals. Rams running back Steven Jackson who is coming off a 100 yard rushing game is the only offense the Rams have. They will need every ounce of effort from him if they are to put a ‘w’ up in the standings this week.
Seattle Seahawks (1-1): Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, coming off a fractured rib injury suffered in the loss to the 49’ers on Sunday, is still listed as uncertain for Sunday. Backup Seneca Wallace would take his place this Sunday against the Chicago Bears at home should Hasselbeck not be able to go. Against a stingy Bears defense that will be a tough assignment. I would not be too heartbroken to see the Bears run all over the Hawks.
